One of the best upgrades you can do for your Bug or Ghia is to convert the old drum brakes to disc brakes. While converting your brake system this kit from EMPI will also lower your car up to 2.5" while still giving you a smooth ride since the suspension stays in the factory location. This kit comes with drop spindles that convert your car to a late model ball joint spindle point and uses late model Ghia style brake rotors. This rotor comes blank with no lug pattern. Buyer is responsible for having the lug pattern of their choice drilled into this rotor. Wheel studs are not included. This kit can be used on Thing but requires lower torsion arm be changed to a ball joint Bug torsion arm with the ball joint pointing up rather than down.

Kit Includes: (1) Set of Drop Spindles, (2) Blank Brake Rotors(NO Lug Pattern), (2) Brake Calipers w/Pads, (2) Inner Wheel Bearings, (2) Outer Wheel Bearings, (2) Grease Seals, (2) Rubber Brake Hoses, (1) Spindle Nuts, Thrust Washers & Caliper Mounting Hardware.  

Installation Note: For '66-'68 Model vehicles you must use '69 and later Tie Rod Ends (See Related Products). This kit CAN NOT be used with Backing Plates! Drop spindles will widen the track 1/4″ per side and approximately 5/8" overall. Must be used with 15" or larger wheels. This kit does not include Grease Caps. (See Related Products) WARNING! It is extremely important that brake lines be installed by a trained mechanic. Proper length of each line in relation to wheel travel and steering angle is critical to avoid brake failure. Equally important is brake lines must be free flowing and have no contamination. Additionally, all calipers must be bled properly, regardless of kit purchased. Do not attempt brake line or caliper installation without the experience to properly evaluate all of these issues.
